Paddock Grumblers

Back in my days as a young Bury FC fan my Dad and I always stood in the same place on the terraces at Gigg Lane. It was in front of the South Paddock – an enclosure with about fifteen rows of seats and a roof. The older fans (and I mean really old) who infested the Paddock took a jaundiced view of just about everything. Their comments about the team I adored were often very negative. Sometimes they were unduly harsh or despondent. So we nicknamed them Paddock Grumblers! But of course you don’t bear the slightest resemblance!
